- Possession of travel documents: According to the Passport (Entry into India) Act of 1920 and the Rules made thereunder, every foreigner entering India must have a valid national passport or any other internationally recognised travel document establishing his/her nationality and identity and bearing – (a) his/her photograph, and (b) a valid visa for India granted by an authorised Indian representative abroad (except to the extent mentioned in paras 2, 4 and 5 below).
- Visa application: A visa applicant must submit an application on the online system using the standard visa application form. Applicants can get this information by going to https://indianvisaonline.gov.in. The foreigner must be present within the jurisdiction of the Indian Mission/Post at the time of application and visa issuance.
- Validity of passport and visa: The passport must be valid for at least six months at the time the visa application is submitted. It should include at least two blank pages for the Immigration Officer to stamp. All visas will be valid for one year from the date of issuing.
